Happy Birthday Munch…kin!!! (: You’re 23 today! You know what that means? It means I get to enjoy the next few days embracing the last of my being 21 and pretend that I really am 2 years younger than you for the next…11 days to come, muahahaha! :D  Jokes babe. Turning 23 is a reminder that age is just a number which most definitely does not change the fact that you are still the same little baby I know and love from all those years ago :) I heart you too much my nyemanyne!

I came home from uni just as Afiq was about to leave to his uni. I managed to borrow him for a good solid 5 minutes before he started getting all impatient and fidgety, which you can see from picture #2 below (told you he’s just like a baby). I promised I’d stick pics of his new birthday present but it hasn’t been easy because someone is a little too attached (he wouldn’t even let me touch the carrier bag it came in) so I did the best I could and took some quick shots of the present on the birthday boy himself. What do you think? (Because it’s your birthday, every pic deserves a birthday frame!)

Happy Valentines Day everyone! I’m not really much of a Valentines Day person (in fact, I didn’t even realize today was Valentines Day till about noon) so while everyone was out celebrating vday, I was celebrating my favorite February occasion; our birthday. But before meeting up with Afiq at Bond St Station, I went to get my hair done with my sister and NH. The last time I cut my hair was in November so I wasn’t going for anything drastic – just a trim with more choppy layers here and there to thin out the bottom, and volumize the top. Oh did I mention my trip to the fabulous JMoriyama Hair Salon is my numero uno birthday present of the month! Thank you my sister that is you, it is the perfect gift. :’)

After the hair cut, I met up with Afiq where we then journeyed off to Westfield to go birthday present shopping. This year we decided there will be no surprises. We’re trying out the whole 'i’ll tell you what i want, you tell me what you want’ thing instead. Interesting stuff :) Oh, and after wanting to go for such a long, long time now, we finally managed to dine (where the queues were ridiculous) at Pizza Express for some amazing ‘Iytalian’.  I had the Padana which is pizza topped with rich goat’s cheese, spinach and onion spread on some crazy tangy sauce drizzled with garlic oil. Damn. Dough balls are the shizzle y’all.

Another fatastica part of my day today was receiving the free Valentines Day Yves Saint Laurent goody bags they were handing out all over Oxford Street. Inside was a catalogue of this season’s latest, an uber cool poster and this gorgeous YSL heart shaped usb drive! Isn’t it pretty! I like! Perfect for uni (:

So what birthday present did I end up choosing/getting? Well… at first it was a battle between Juicy Couture and Marc Jacobs. I then settled for Marc Jacobs before I found myself distracted by something shinier - - MOSCHINO :D

I leave you now with a video from Miss Asia Cruz. I’ve always loved the song Selfish (I think the song is at least a year old!), but all this while I thought the singer was that Asia girl from the winner of The Search for the Next PCD until recently, when I discovered the video for the song, sung by Asia Cruz who happens to be ASIAN! Who would’ve thought! She’s prettyful too! Enjoy.

While I hear it’s been pouring like crazy in Brunei, we UK’ians too, have had our fair share of bad shiteous weather. And by shitty, I mean COLD. The snow isn’t so bad. The frozen snow (ice) on the other hand, has been a real biyatch. I recently discovered my new phobia of icy sidewalks after a very painful and embarrassing incident. It was on a Tuesday evening which was our second snowed-in day of the week. My sisters, Afiq and I had just finished lunching and thought we’d hit the supermarket for some grocery shopping. Seeing that it was a new month, Afiq and I thought it’d be a good idea to stock up instead of making countless visits back. So proceeding along with our very bright idea, we ended up with a luggage full of groceries (yes, we brought a luggage), and 12 more plastic bags of which Afiq took 8, and I took 4. Let me just say, the roads and sidewalks were completely white and covered in ice -- it almost looked like Norfolk Square had turned into an ice skating rink (with just a slight bit of applied exaggeration).  Anyhoots. We took a bus home and just as we were approaching Brunei Hall, even after taking the tiniest of all tiny baby steps, I found myself sliding around on the slippery icy surface right before losing my balance, falling backwards, landing first, on my butt, and then on my hands (which very painfully scraped against the cold hard ice) at which point I had already dropped my groceries which I later realized, was scattered all over the road side. Yeah, Afiq found it pretty funny but he stopped laughing when we discovered some of our stuff went missing. Hah. I was actually pretty close to going back out to scavenge through the snow for my fabric softener but by then I had already officially become afraid of ice. And although most of the roads have already been cleared out, I still go through extreme measures to avoid even the smallest patch of ice.

But besides icy sidewalks and being stranded at home, I think everyone's had a great time with the snow! That was the best Monday I've experienced in a while. Almost every working man, woman and student stayed home, and yeah they say it was the day London 'shutdown' because both nothing and nobody worked that day resulting to a loss of millions of pounds, but the hell with that, it was the holiday we all needed to make us happy care bears again. I have never seen so many snowmen in my life! It was superb ;) Tuesday was another snowed in day for many of us. It snowed again today but not enough to close down uni like it did on Mon and Tues... though I hear more heavy snow is expected to fall this coming Monday. Again :D :D :D.

That's all for now. I shall now leave you's with some long overdue pics from our snowy Chinese New Years celeb. A very special shouty to my seastar who provided me with the pics and treated me to a wonderful sushi lunch today. (Btw, the last pic was taken at Jojo's apartment where we pit stopped for a few games of Mario Kart. Check out the awesome poster... LOL). Stroodles.

Cold weather continues its grip on the UK

The cold weather looks set to tighten its grip on the UK over the next few days, with freezing temperatures and heavy snow expected across much of the UK. The Met Office has issued an early warning for heavy snow covering much of England and Wales from Sunday night until Tuesday.
Travel networks are bracing themselves for severe disruption on Monday morning, especially in London and the south east where up to 25cm (9.8nches) is forecast. Elsewhere up to 20cm (8 inches) is expected at higher levels, with 5-10cm (2-4 inches) in low lying areas.

This… is not cool. As if it wasn’t bad enough that the crazy weather/snow interrupted my plans to have a semi-decent CNY celebration at Chinatown yesterday. And now, after having risen god-knows-how-many-inches overnight, the London Transportation for Monday morning is officially s.c.r.e.w.e.d. I couldn’t get to uni even if I tried which I’m really not happy about. I slept at 10pm just for for my Intl’ Financial Management class at 9am today, groans. I thought I had just a bit of hope left when I saw that the Bakerloo line was only partly   suspended, but turns out, the entire Paddington Station is closed.

Dear All,

Due to the sever disruption to travel caused by adverse weather conditions, all teaching at all University sites will be cancelled for the rest of the day. All staff whose work is not essential to security or health and safety should arrange to travel home as soon as possible. All students should do the same.

I guess this leaves me with no choice but to snuggle back into bed with my Edward Cullen book.
