All About Bargain Shopping

Posted by: Elle La Belle

To avoid having to survive on cereal for the rest of the month, I swore off shopping as I’ve been doing nothing but that since the holidays started.  Yesterday however… the boys and I decided to tag along with sister dearest to High Street Kensington. Our first stop was TK Maxx which reminded me so much of Century 21 in New York which basically sells designer labels for less. I was on my best behavior until I saw a mountain of Bestseyville makeup bags stashed in one section of the store. I was speechless… in all my years here in London I have never come across anything from Betsey Johnson (or maybe I’m just not looking hard enough?) who just happens to be one of my favorite designers! Her stuff is crazy fun and her handbags are always the cutest! So even though these were just make up bags, I decided to get this wild pink zebra case for myself anyway, because I LOVE BJ and well, I love make up. I got the set of two for only 10pounds! Awesome stuff :) Then on my way to the cashier I ran into the cutest pair of pajamas by Ed Hardy. They came in yellow, white and pink, and I got the very last pair in pink – happy days!!!

Our next stop was H&M (so much for not shopping right? haha). If anyone is on a bargain hunt like I am, I suggest y’all stop by as they’ve got this crazy sale going on right now. I got these two cutesie tops for only 3pounds! And I thought it was impossible to score cheap finds in this crazy city where everything is OVERPRICED. I might wear one of the two for my movie night out with the guys tonight! Transformers baby, I am so excited.

My sister and I also came across a MAC branch at High Street Ken which was pretty cool because it was its own store and not located in a department store, so it was definitely bigger than what I’m used to. The best part was that they had all this old stock from wayyy back including all the limited edition stuff from previous collections like Hello Kitty. I got myself a Hello Kitty compact in Pretty Baby just because I never had the chance to before :)

So I broke the rules a bit but when it comes to sales, bargains, and amazing finds, how can you resist… honestly. Not to worry… I’ve got my cereal on standby.

Look of the day. Just trying out my new eyeshadows. Wish the cam would show how bright the colors  really are but it refused to cooperate with me this morning - oh well. :/ Had a loooong (but super fun) day out… so no long post today :) I’m knackered. Ta.

INGLOT @ Westfield

Today I fell in love… with INGLOT! Inglot is a polish cosmetic brand that is just expanding. Packaging, product range and quality is very comparable to MAC. The only BIG difference is that they are a lot cheaper than MAC which this budget girl l.o.v.e.s. Here’s what thee website reads…

Our product range includes over 200 shades of eye shadows, over 200 shades of nail polish, more than 150 shades of lipstick and all the latest must-have accessories.
We must warn you though… Inglot can be seriously addictive!

I first heard about the brand from one of Natalya’s vids (she is a fabulous guru) so I just had to try it out for myself. The store was AMAZING. The thing I was most impressed with were the custom palettes. Inglot has this thing called ‘The Freedom System’ where you can basically create your own individual PERFECT palette from a combination of eyeshadows, powders, blushes, bronzers, lippies and even concealers. I took to my Twitter that it was as if I was at a candy store picking and mixing my candy but instead of candy, I was bagging my own assortment of make up. It was unbelievable.

So because today was my first time at Inglot, I started off with a small palette of just eyeshadows. I spent so long picking out my colors (the boys left me there!) that I didn't even make it to the rest of the other stuff (although I had originally planned on putting in a bronzer). But anyway, I love these. I will be back for more. The gorgeous colors are all soo soo pigmented and vibrant. And get this… my five eyeshadows cost me 15Pounds! That's 3 pounds per eyeshadow anything you want! If you get bigger palettes you save even more! Is that crazy, or is that crazy? TO MY SISTERS, please go to Westfield and check this shit out!

UPDATE!

Posted by: Elle La Belle

Its been a while since I last updated and this time I can't use work as an excuse because I’m totally FREE babyyy. Feels good to finally be done with 3 years of uni! They always say you’ll miss studying once you’re out of uni… but let me tell you, that feeling has definitely NOT kicked in yet and probably will not until some time. I’m just glad to finally be able to relax after months and months of having no life. My results come out first week of July so I'm hoping and praying that all will be good. I’ve been to Oxford Street everyday since my last exam which is why I decided to punish myself and lock myself at home all of yesterday and today (missing out on the ultimate fashion sale was NOT an easy decision to make) just to give the bank account a nice little rest before I plan my next splurging activity…or ties.

Here are just some of the things I’ve treated myself with recently…

My e.l.f. products arrived 2 days after placing my order. Shipping was unbelievably fast which was awesome considering it was 1) free and 2) known to take at least a week to deliver, so I was really pleased with that. I didn't get a lot, just two eye shadow brushes (I need to order more of these, they're amazing!), a smudge brush, a mineral booster, a mineral blush, an all over cover stick and a pair of dramatic falsies. This brand is most known for its too-good-to-be-true prices (in US almost everything is a dollar, and in the UK, a pound fifty) so its only normal to be skeptical about the quality of these products. But lucky for me, I wasn’t disappointed in any of the stuff I bought – they’re actually really, really good. Tip: Watch hours and hours of youtube video reviews so that you make sure you’re only spending money on items with good reviews ;) Here’s me testing out all my e.l.f. products for the first time, with the exception of foundation and concealer for which I used my Studio Fix Foundation in NC35 and MAC Studio Fix concealer. The all over stick I used under my eyes. The eye shadow brushes I used to peck, blend and highlight the purple and pinks (from the Sleek palette), the mineralize blush which comes on realllly nice (and you don’t even need a lot), the mineral booster to set my foundation and give that err.. ‘porcelain finish’ as they say and finally, my falsies which I’m loving SO much. My natural eyelashes are extremely short and stubborn, I’ve even had them permed once which still could not give them the camel eye lash effect that I wanted… so I have resorted to these. They’re lovely.

These are some of the things I picked up on day 1 of shopping in Oxford St. A floral print top, cute dress, and two cardigans because London weather is very pms-y (its freezing today!). I also bought a pump for my studio fix foundation, a new compact and more falsies! I love!

Day 2 of Oxford Street wasn’t really a shopping trip for me. I actually went there to have my hair cut. It was a strange experience because it was at the Vidal Sassoon Academy where we were actually guinea pigs to the aspiring hair stylist students. Interesting stuff, so thank you sissy for recommending this place. And check this, my next hair cut is free, I can’t wait! I also met up with the boys later that afternoon for some halal dim sum, and nooo, I'm not referring to the over priced Ping Pong. The place is called Inn Noodle and its new halal menu was just introduced this June so we went there to sample the food over a lunch date. We were barely breathing by time we left - it was a lot of food! Check out my twitter for pics, I’m too lazy to stick em up here. :)

On Day 3, I went back to Selfridges to check out MACs style warrior event which apart from the hot model in the animal print bikini and the wild afro, was just alright. They had a good range of bronzers to choose from which I had originally planned to buy but you don’t even need to do swatches to see all that glitterati mess going on. I love glitter but not in my bronzers or blushers. I just don’t fancy looking like a disco ball. So I was a bit disappointed there but oh well, wallet was happy at least :) I did manage to get a new primer though (finally!) from Laura Mercier so I’m really happy with that. I don’t have a pic of that because it would be ridiculous to take shot of everything I buy. Ooh, but I did snap some quick pics of these: Waffles from my waffle date with my sister, and some Girls Aloud falsies (I thought these were sold out!!!). I got them in Nadine (my favorite) and Nicola (his favorite – ROTFL).

I’m hungry. Think I shall be having Coco pop Rocks for lunch. I’ve gained a ton of weight since the holidays start. I can feel it. Me no likey. Anyway, that was a long posttt… till next time!
