All About Bargain Shopping

Posted by: Elle La Belle

To avoid having to survive on cereal for the rest of the month, I swore off shopping as I’ve been doing nothing but that since the holidays started.  Yesterday however… the boys and I decided to tag along with sister dearest to High Street Kensington. Our first stop was TK Maxx which reminded me so much of Century 21 in New York which basically sells designer labels for less. I was on my best behavior until I saw a mountain of Bestseyville makeup bags stashed in one section of the store. I was speechless… in all my years here in London I have never come across anything from Betsey Johnson (or maybe I’m just not looking hard enough?) who just happens to be one of my favorite designers! Her stuff is crazy fun and her handbags are always the cutest! So even though these were just make up bags, I decided to get this wild pink zebra case for myself anyway, because I LOVE BJ and well, I love make up. I got the set of two for only 10pounds! Awesome stuff :) Then on my way to the cashier I ran into the cutest pair of pajamas by Ed Hardy. They came in yellow, white and pink, and I got the very last pair in pink – happy days!!!

IMG_1166

Our next stop was H&M (so much for not shopping right? haha). If anyone is on a bargain hunt like I am, I suggest y’all stop by as they’ve got this crazy sale going on right now. I got these two cutesie tops for only 3pounds! And I thought it was impossible to score cheap finds in this crazy city where everything is OVERPRICED. I might wear one of the two for my movie night out with the guys tonight! Transformers baby, I am so excited.

IMG_1175

My sister and I also came across a MAC branch at High Street Ken which was pretty cool because it was its own store and not located in a department store, so it was definitely bigger than what I’m used to. The best part was that they had all this old stock from wayyy back including all the limited edition stuff from previous collections like Hello Kitty. I got myself a Hello Kitty compact in Pretty Baby just because I never had the chance to before :)

So I broke the rules a bit but when it comes to sales, bargains, and amazing finds, how can you resist… honestly. Not to worry… I’ve got my cereal on standby.

Look of the day. Just trying out my new eyeshadows. Wish the cam would show how bright the colors  really are but it refused to cooperate with me this morning - oh well. :/ Had a loooong (but super fun) day out… so no long post today :) I’m knackered. Ta.

INGLOT @ Westfield

IMG_1034

Today I fell in love… with INGLOT! Inglot is a polish cosmetic brand that is just expanding. Packaging, product range and quality is very comparable to MAC. The only BIG difference is that they are a lot cheaper than MAC which this budget girl l.o.v.e.s. Here’s what thee website reads…

Our product range includes over 200 shades of eye shadows, over 200 shades of nail polish, more than 150 shades of lipstick and all the latest must-have accessories.
We must warn you though… Inglot can be seriously addictive!

I first heard about the brand from one of Natalya’s vids (she is a fabulous guru) so I just had to try it out for myself. The store was AMAZING. The thing I was most impressed with were the custom palettes. Inglot has this thing called ‘The Freedom System’ where you can basically create your own individual PERFECT palette from a combination of eyeshadows, powders, blushes, bronzers, lippies and even concealers. I took to my Twitter that it was as if I was at a candy store picking and mixing my candy but instead of candy, I was bagging my own assortment of make up. It was unbelievable.

So because today was my first time at Inglot, I started off with a small palette of just eyeshadows. I spent so long picking out my colors (the boys left me there!) that I didn't even make it to the rest of the other stuff (although I had originally planned on putting in a bronzer). But anyway, I love these. I will be back for more. The gorgeous colors are all soo soo pigmented and vibrant. And get this… my five eyeshadows cost me 15Pounds! That's 3 pounds per eyeshadow anything you want! If you get bigger palettes you save even more! Is that crazy, or is that crazy? TO MY SISTERS, please go to Westfield and check this shit out!

UPDATE!

Posted by: Elle La Belle

Its been a while since I last updated and this time I can't use work as an excuse because I’m totally FREE babyyy. Feels good to finally be done with 3 years of uni! They always say you’ll miss studying once you’re out of uni… but let me tell you, that feeling has definitely NOT kicked in yet and probably will not until some time. I’m just glad to finally be able to relax after months and months of having no life. My results come out first week of July so I'm hoping and praying that all will be good. I’ve been to Oxford Street everyday since my last exam which is why I decided to punish myself and lock myself at home all of yesterday and today (missing out on the ultimate fashion sale was NOT an easy decision to make) just to give the bank account a nice little rest before I plan my next splurging activity…or ties.

Here are just some of the things I’ve treated myself with recently…

IMG_0864

My e.l.f. products arrived 2 days after placing my order. Shipping was unbelievably fast which was awesome considering it was 1) free and 2) known to take at least a week to deliver, so I was really pleased with that. I didn't get a lot, just two eye shadow brushes (I need to order more of these, they're amazing!), a smudge brush, a mineral booster, a mineral blush, an all over cover stick and a pair of dramatic falsies. This brand is most known for its too-good-to-be-true prices (in US almost everything is a dollar, and in the UK, a pound fifty) so its only normal to be skeptical about the quality of these products. But lucky for me, I wasn’t disappointed in any of the stuff I bought – they’re actually really, really good. Tip: Watch hours and hours of youtube video reviews so that you make sure you’re only spending money on items with good reviews ;) Here’s me testing out all my e.l.f. products for the first time, with the exception of foundation and concealer for which I used my Studio Fix Foundation in NC35 and MAC Studio Fix concealer. The all over stick I used under my eyes. The eye shadow brushes I used to peck, blend and highlight the purple and pinks (from the Sleek palette), the mineralize blush which comes on realllly nice (and you don’t even need a lot), the mineral booster to set my foundation and give that err.. ‘porcelain finish’ as they say and finally, my falsies which I’m loving SO much. My natural eyelashes are extremely short and stubborn, I’ve even had them permed once which still could not give them the camel eye lash effect that I wanted… so I have resorted to these. They’re lovely.

IMG_0912

These are some of the things I picked up on day 1 of shopping in Oxford St. A floral print top, cute dress, and two cardigans because London weather is very pms-y (its freezing today!). I also bought a pump for my studio fix foundation, a new compact and more falsies! I love!

IMG_0878

Day 2 of Oxford Street wasn’t really a shopping trip for me. I actually went there to have my hair cut. It was a strange experience because it was at the Vidal Sassoon Academy where we were actually guinea pigs to the aspiring hair stylist students. Interesting stuff, so thank you sissy for recommending this place. And check this, my next hair cut is free, I can’t wait! I also met up with the boys later that afternoon for some halal dim sum, and nooo, I'm not referring to the over priced Ping Pong. The place is called Inn Noodle and its new halal menu was just introduced this June so we went there to sample the food over a lunch date. We were barely breathing by time we left - it was a lot of food! Check out my twitter for pics, I’m too lazy to stick em up here. :)

On Day 3, I went back to Selfridges to check out MACs style warrior event which apart from the hot model in the animal print bikini and the wild afro, was just alright. They had a good range of bronzers to choose from which I had originally planned to buy but you don’t even need to do swatches to see all that glitterati mess going on. I love glitter but not in my bronzers or blushers. I just don’t fancy looking like a disco ball. So I was a bit disappointed there but oh well, wallet was happy at least :) I did manage to get a new primer though (finally!) from Laura Mercier so I’m really happy with that. I don’t have a pic of that because it would be ridiculous to take shot of everything I buy. Ooh, but I did snap some quick pics of these: Waffles from my waffle date with my sister, and some Girls Aloud falsies (I thought these were sold out!!!). I got them in Nadine (my favorite) and Nicola (his favorite – ROTFL).

I’m hungry. Think I shall be having Coco pop Rocks for lunch. I’ve gained a ton of weight since the holidays start. I can feel it. Me no likey. Anyway, that was a long posttt… till next time!

Sigma Lovin … and ELF!

Posted by: Elle La Belle

IMG_0853

I think by now everyone's probably sick and tired of me going on and on about my Sigma brushes on Facebook and Twitter, so I'm sorry!!! I've fallen in love. I ordered the complete set of 12 professional brushes a few weeks back but unfortunately, due to very, very high demand, I've been put on a waiting list for July's next stock. That made me sad :( But I've made my pre-order and now all there's left to do is wait--Grr. They also just released the SS188 and the SS109 (similar to the MAC 188 and the MAC 109) so I placed an order for the SS109 and the Kabuki to keep me happy for the time being as I can imagine these selling out fast as well. I didn’t bother with the SS188 although I’ve heard fantastic reviews about them! My Hello Kitty 187 is super tiny, so I didn’t bother getting a smaller version of the 187. My first two brushes arrived yesterday and I couldn’t be happier. They really are all those good things you hear about them. I just can’t wait for the other twelve to get here O_O

My Sigma brushes came with a free ELF Brightening Eye Color which I have yet to try out. And speaking of ELF... as I have also rambled on in my Twitter (I'm really sorry guys, you are more than welcome to de-follow me, lol), in support of tonight's match they've made all shipping free during the 90 minutes of tonight's Champions League Cup Final, so you can imagine how crazy me and my sisters went ordering craploads on the website, which half was probably bought on impulse and pressure! Haha. But with 1.50 per item, what have you really got to lose right? I just can't frickin wait for ELF UK's launch of their studio line. UK can be so slowwwww with things sometimes, but I guess I should really consider myself lucky right? I'll do a post the soonest my ELF products arrive! I'm so excited!!!

Shopping spree at… BOOTS!!!

Posted by: Elle La Belle

Today was the most fun I’ve had in a while! I’ve been having the worst migraines for three days straight now, so I thought just for today I’d skip the books and give my over-used brain a break. So I went shopping!!! We first stopped by LV where after a series of embarrassing mishaps at the store (wont go into detail but lets just say I got the security guard rummaging though my bag… *FAINTS*) and a cooling down session at Starbucks, my sister and I hit Boots for some quality make up splurging time! Ever since I saw the commercial for L'Oreal's Shine Gelee Lipstick, I knewww I had to get a few shades for myself. The thing with them is they’re made of Royal Jelly so they nourish like a balm, but shine like a gloss. Genius! :) I settled for Sugar Rose, Pretty Peach, Sweet Tea, Golden Vanilla and Shiny Grapefruit. And they taste awesome too… hahaha…err is that weird. My sister asked me to do some swatches but unfortunately I didn’t get a very good shot so that will have to wait. I also randomly popped an Olay tinted moisturizer into my basket which I think I could be potentially in love with. I tried it on my hands and the coverage was not too shabby - if I really do I like it I might just replace my actual foundation with it. We’ll see how that one works out. The other stuff I bought aren’t really worth mentioning. *yawns* Sleep time. :D

I took a night off yesterday for the first time in WEEKS!!! And it was awesome! It would’ve been a full day off but classes at uni took up my entire morning and afternoon. So how did I spend my few hours of freedom? By playing my DS all night long of course! Haha. Boyfriend introduced me to this awesome new game called Rhythm Heaven and now I’m totally hooked – so hooked that I slept at 3am! I blame him for always introducing me to these addictive games that make me never wanna put my DS down. Check out Beyonce playing the same game! If you have a DS – DOWNLOAD IT. (or… buy it…? I guess?) I loooove beyounnnnce!!!

Happy Thoughts

Just about to start meeting numero deux for our 350.org campaign. If you don’t know about 350, check out our FB group and the website, get with the program, and come join our movement to be planeteers! Thought I’d throw in a quick update before the meeting gets off to a start… First of all, would like to wish my PAPABEAR DADDYO a very very happy birthday!!! I love and miss you heaps and heaps… I hope that your special day is filled with lots of ice cream and presents :)))

 n762108765_1091875_8593

Speaking of presents, I’ve found an outlet for all the stress I’ve had to deal with lately; ONLINE SHOPPING. Well not exactly. More like online window shopping. I’ve been indoors for 3 whole weeks now and since I can’t get out often, I use my resources and work with what I can. I'm not gonna lie to you, I've been feeling very deprived, and ladies, THIS ITCH NEEDS TO BE SCRATCHED! Since hitting the retail webbies, I’ve added two new things to my wish list. Ugh… I hate wanting.. I like getting. Who wants to buy for me? Early grad present? No? Too much? I NAK LA.

1. Call me old, call me slow, but I'm effing loving Coach's Bonnie collection! Its soooooooooooooooooooooooooo cute!!! I love how it says 'I wouldn't walk a block without my Cashin-Carry, especially down Madison Ave.'

2. COASTAL SCENTS SMACKS!!! ARGH. They are having a sale (ending in a few hours, GRR) but these babies will have to wait till next month. Or the following month. I want ALL 21 shades. I don't curr if they come in purple or whatever dracula shade, I want em all. SOMEONE BUY FOR MEEEEEEEEEE... [credits to Tiff!x]

My parents sent my sisters, Fique, and I some goodies through Pathee (muchos gracias 2nd cuzzy!) who flew in from Brunei yesterday. We got some Nescafes 3 in 1, Tronky, Sotong (haha, nice one ma!) and Cake batiks, just to name a few. In the box I also noticed a little pretty package wrapped in blue only to find out that my parents had snuck in a belated birthday present for me. I wish I had taken a pic before tearing the bajeezers out of it (it was a case of extreme excitement) but unfortunately, that’s exactly what I did. Inside was the Night Diamond compact from Dior’s make up collection, and boyeee do I LOVE it! I was telling my mom how it adds on perfectly to my make up collection. Not to mention, the casing is soooo pretty – so pretty that I’m even too scared to use it! The compact comes with its own Dior brush (ha ha! No spongies! Definitely a winner this one :p ) and both compact and brush have their own little black pouchies for protection. It’s so sparkly :) Thank you Muhmee. Thank you Daddy. I lovvvvvvvvvvvvve and miss you so much :( Muhmee has asked me to stick pics on my blog so here they are, as per request!

P.S. Mind the ugly face and the messy hair. I’ve been in the surau everyday of my easter holiday doing work and well… this is my study look.

PEPE!!! When I saw pics of my sister and Pepe, and found out that S too, had met the kitty, I just had to go see this cuteness of a feline for myself!! And I didn’t even have to look very far. I found it sunbathing outside it’s house and (I) started shrieking. I didn’t even hesitate to play wit it. Sigh,  it was love at first sight :’) We had to walk away after the owner, who was having drinks at the pub across the street, walked to the sidewalk opposite his place, crossed his arms and stared glared at us for the longest time. Geez. The cutest thing was that the kitty trailed us from behind as we walked off to Starbucks! ARrrgggh. It was very hard to let go. But don’t worry Pepe. I’ll be back. Muahaha.

Today is a good day. :)

The holidays can be real borrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrring when you’ve got nothing planned. How I wish I was in New York (or some fabulous European city like… Paris or Amsterdam—anywhere but here) instead of bumming at home like a…hermit. Booooooohoooooooooooohooooooooo :( I gots to snap out of lazy mode. I’ve got my final 3 assignments to complete before the end of the break and then my final exams- sigh. All I've been doing is stuffing myself with food to keep myself entertained and yesterday was no exception. Stopped by Pizza Hut for their Happy Hour special and had a whole (personal) pizza to myself and boyeee, did it hit all the right spots! YUMMO.

When I got home Afiq had ready a surprise for me! I was expecting new Teefa pics/vids, but I was shocked to find out that yes, they were baby pics, but not the human kind, lol. These are 3 out of the 4 kittens Manis gave birth to! Aren’t they CUUUUUUUUUUUUUTE. I am a big cat lover and since he’s shown me these pics I’ve been thinking of ways to kidnap these cute little furballs. I want I want I want! GRR. There was a fourth kitten but unfortunately it didn’t make it & died :( These three are absolute beauties though. If I ever get another cat, it’ll be named Pucci (pronounced Poo-chee). I’ve never met these little ones but I love them already :( The last one looks like my very first cat Cooty when she was just 2months old.
